York Entrepreneurs Society held their first main event of the year, the Market last week, which marked National Entrepreneurial Week in 104 countries.
The event comprised of three days of intensive challenges based around the food and drink industry. The ten teams were met on day one with the challenge of selling candy sherbet straws around campus. At the end of the day only six teams with the most profit progressed to the next round. Day Two challenged the teams in designing; the society paired up with Monteys Rock Café and Cocktail bar in Micklegate to learn about the art of cocktail making. The task involved creating a concept for a new cocktail to be served at the bar, researching ingredients and pitching their ideas to a panel of judges.
The judges consisted of Roisin Mulligan, the head of the University’s cocktail society and the new joint owners of Monteys bar.
