With a number of highly contested places and a committee-wide pledge to see the association become much more integrated with all students, be they English or otherwise, the results are certainly big news on campus.
The new committee will see the debut of recently created positions. These board places are hoped to help expand the influence and inclusion of the ISA across the university. To this end, Sports rep (a position to promote involvement of all cultures and their own sports) was obtained by Mikala Louise Sørensen, whilst the UK Integration Rep, a key figure in communication between foreign students and their English associates, was taken by Charles Mcswiggan.
Elsewhere, there was contention for marketing and ents representation. These positions are some of the most important within the society, for they form the face of ISA. Karolina Wnuk and Arthur Mukembo managed to fend off strong competition from Rokas Juodeikis in order to win seats as the marketing reps, whilst the trio consisting of Nathalie Czarnecki, Xiaodan Sun and Artur Safiullin found strength in their unique mix of cultures, overcoming competition from Hazwan Jaton to secure Ents rep.
Other positions up for grabs over the course of the election included treasurer, taken by Jeongho Andy Park, and secretary, won by Aleksandrs Cudars. Joy Yixin Zhang has been appointed Welfare rep following the results, while many members are excitedly waiting for another set of UK wide trips to be organised by Karl-Axel Lindgren over the next twelve months.
Lewis Yingwei Chen was the candidate of the night, obtaining the coveted position of Vice President of the ISA, with victory over competitor En Shi Teoh by a considerable margin.
The new committee will be ushered in officially on the 8th June at the annual ISA summer ball.
