With eight teams still in the competition, the teams needed to come up with simple but unique ideas that would be easily marketable.
Teams were not allowed to sell anything tangible, as the task was solely service-based. Any profit that was made was retained by York Entrepreneurs Society and is going towards funding the prize money and costs arising from running the event.
Teams C.R.E.A.M and Ingenuity failed to earn enough from the services they provided, meaning that they left the competition. C.R.E.A.M were washing cars, while Ingenuity gave tours in town and then moved onto face painting.
Of the teams that made it through today’s task, the majority performed household services, such as cleaning kitchens and valeting cars for businesses.
Students were very inventive and original with their ideas, with the highest profit raised being £163.05.
York Entrepreneurs Society events director Sophie Walker told The Yorker: "it was brilliant finding out how the teams used their time to earn money and how they all created their own business during the day."
This leaves six teams to fight it out in the semi finals tomorrow as they aim to win the £1,600 prize fund.
Check The Yorker tomorrow for details of the next task!
