The University will now print your posters, just don't put them up!

A bare campus as the ban remains enforced.
Thursday, 10th November 2011
The University has begun advertising a new poster printing service, just five weeks after the ban on campus postering came in.

Following the recent poster ban, which has resulted in complaints across the full spectrum of university activities, the university’s campus copy and print service has decided to invest in a new poster printer.

Despite the blanket ban which has seen a flurry of activity by YUSU and grassroots campaigns by societies, the latest money-making scheme from the university has been launched without a hint of irony, with the university describing it as “Perfect for Conferences; Presentation; Exhibitions; Advertising” despite the fact that all advertising by posters (apart from the few boards provided by YUSU) has been banned on campus with the threat of heavy fines being issued by the university.

Whilst posters and presentations are a part of many degrees, the timing could not be worse for the university, as pressure mounts to have the ban lifted as societies complain of struggling to advertise their events. Even careers events have been restricted in advertising themselves.

However as of yet they have not changed their position. But with the university now clearly expressing a desire for posters is there about to be a U-turn?

The university’s printing service was asked to comment but did not respond.
