A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.
YUSU Welfare officer Bob Hughes has warned students to be vigilant after a student loans phishing scam has been revealed.
Her Majesty the Queen will be visiting York on Maundy Thursday, 5th April, as part of the 800th anniversary of York’s Charter for the traditional “Royal Maundy” ceremony.
A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
In YUSU’s elections, filling many of its committee positions and three NUS delegate openings, students were elected into 25 roles while 22 were left unfilled.
The GSA had a similar ratio, with 12 filled and 10 unfilled roles, despite having a massive amount of competition for the position of Welfare Officer, a sabbatical post.
Though the November elections are notorious for leaving vacancies, 47% and 45% vacancies are more than either organisation will want to have seen.

Not filled: Five Ents’ Assistant positions, two Women’s Committee ordinary positions, eight Disabled Committee reps, Environment and Ethics ordinary member, Mature Students’ Committee Social Secretary, Racial Equality Committee’s Secretary position and four Women’s Committee positions.
Unfilled positions will be filled at Open Meetings of the Network.
The LGBT Committee was elected at a meeting on Wednesday of week nine and voting for LGBT Officer is open until Monday of week ten (December 12).

Not filled: PGCE Representative, Part-Time Students Representative, Distance Learning Student’s Representative, Communication Officer, Communities, Charities and Volunteering Officer, a Council representative, Campaigns Officer, Disabilities’ Representative, Gender Equality Representative and Students With Dependents’ Representative
