STANCE ON KEY ISSUES
HESLINGTON EAST Both O’ Connor and Fink are pro Heslington East, with Fink looking forward to a new and better students’ union venue and O’ Connor emphasizing accommodation. Of the two O’ Connor is the most sceptical about the procedures in place for expansion. He said: “My impression is that the decision as to the location of the campus relies on very debatable assumptions indeed. It's not as simple as saying 'it's Heslington East or nowhere'.”
BAR CLOSURE Both candidates here come out surprisingly pragmatic about the issue of booze provision on campus. Fink said: “I think colleges should have their own bars. On the other hand I am an economist therefore I understand the fact that if bars do not make money either due to unimaginative events or lack of student support they will be closed.” O’ Connor said: “Bars should not necessarily stay open. Given the national trend of declining income of bars, and the local trend on campus, of students drinking more elsewhere, the 'bar review' is perfectly understandable.”
Good luck boys!
re: fink, it's refreshing to see a politician actively pursuing pro-smoking legislation
sadly the fact that both chairs prefer nouse to vision means i can back neither
There's a tory soc ents officer for Alcuin?! What tory events have there been??? I like both lads...but can vote for neither of them on the basis that they prefer Cameron to Brown.
