Budget Speculation

Cameron And a Hoodie
Brap!!
Monday, 21st June 2010
Written By David Pocock & Jessica Lamplough

In times of crisis such as those we find ourselves in, George Osborne should be cruel to be kind when he delivers his first budget tomorrow. A team of elite and informed journalists and political commentators (more specifically Double Take Editor David Pocock and his Chief Economic Adviser Jessica Lamplough) speculate on what we can expect tomorrow. Hug A Hoodie didn’t work. No more Mr Nice Guy.

V.A.T: Likely to be increased to around 60%. Dave and Gideon can just whack it on expenses anyway. Fuel tax is likely to remain at 5% or even decrease. You have to draw a line somewhere.

Capital Gains Tax: Is likely to decrease to 2% for the foreseeable future. Granny Cameron is very ill. Then we’ll return to the Screw The Bastards Even When They’re Dead initiative.

Air Taxes: Very likely to be increased as Osborne is an environmentally aware chap. He’ll do everything possible to decrease CO2 emissions in line with EU regulations. And also, a few billion will be saved.

Sin Taxes: Likely to be abolished. Let The Bastards Drink And Smoke Themselves To Death To Cut Our Spending On Healthcare campaign.

Income Tax: Increased to 60% for those earning less than MPs. Reduced to 5% for those earning greater than or equal to MPs.

Pensions: The pension age is likely to increase in the public sector; part of Cameron’s new initiative to Work The Bastards Till They Drop.

Public Sector Pay: Likely to be frozen for the foreseeable future. The government doesn’t need the support and confidence of the police and civil service anyway. Oh wait...

Child Tax Credits: After the scandal involving MPs paying their children salaries to sweep up their Kensington offices, the means-tested threshold is likely to be increased to just over the average MP’s salary. They have to get them through university somehow.

Benefits Freeze: Welfare is likely to be cut drastically in accordance with Mr Cameron’s Starve The Bastards initiative. We’ll see what tomorrow brings but mark our words... You probably won’t like it...
