All three write, direct, produce and act, while also writing and editing hum-drum magazine, which as Miles puts it, consists of “writing, artwork and uniquely skewed sense of humour”. This year has seen the company expand to work with new and local talent, several of whom are making their debut on Friday with their first ever short film.
It has been an eventful and inspiring year so far, so come along to City Screen to see the results.
The night will also be treated to some great music from Michael Rossiter, Ewan Fisher, Sheffield band Navvy, Toby and Jeremy's Little Shorts, Me and My Bro, and Edith and Rob.
A truly home-grown business, hum-drum make their films and magazine for practically no money yet have already gained acclaim and film festival plaudits, having made a short film a month for the last year. The Planetarium and Nazareth (both starring Riley and de Koning) are two examples of hum-drum’s superb work to date and have been entered in the Virgin Media Shorts competition. Hum-drum night on Friday will offer not only a chance to see some really outstanding films and hear some excellent music; but an opportunity to meet and chat to the filmmakers.
The future of hum-drum films looks bright: more films are being shot by a myriad of talented and dedicated filmmakers, more screenings are expected (with another hum-drum night planned in London on July 16th) and a feature film is also in the pipeline. It has been an eventful and inspiring year so far, so come along to City Screen to see the results.
