Returning after a wonderful winter break, the York Student Cinema is proud to present another selection of great films. Starting with an eclectic mix of teenage wizards, monstrous Santas and retired killers, there’s bound to be something for everyone this term.

  • Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale - Monday, Week 2

Christmas may be over but why not treat yourself to this wonderfully festive Finnish film, in which the original terrifying Father Christmas is released from his icy tomb to spread fear and misery as he punishes wrong doers. This is an incredibly enjoyable fantasy horror comedy that is quite unlike any seasonal picture you have ever seen.

  • RED (Retired Extremely Dangerous) - Thursday, Week 2

This fast and fun action-comedy stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren as a bunch of gun-toting former CIA operatives forced to join together when their old employers try to erase them. Having proved extremely popular with audiences around the world the film has earned itself a nomination as one of the best comedies of the year at the Golden Globes and should make for something rather special.

  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I - Friday, Week 2
