Sports Editor James Tompkinson looks at York Sport in 2011 and gives his highlights from the year
James Tompkinson - Sports Editor. All I want for Christmas this year is for the two teams that I support to get promoted. Sheffield Wednesday need to get out of League One as soon as possible to start fulfilling some potential as one of the bigger clubs in the Football League, and after watching York City this year, it would be great to see them get out of the Blue Square Bet Premier League so that they are playing league football next year.
Andy Pakes - Deputy Sports Editor. All I want for Christmas is for Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer to make a lightning quick recovery from his back injury so that England-rated David Stockdale can re-sign on loan for Ipswich Town, hopefully this time without a 24hr recall clause!
Aimee Howarth - General Editor. All I want for Christmas is for Manchester United to get revenge on City and knock them out of the FA Cup in January. I also want to win a few more pool matches for Vanbrugh and turn around my bad record from last term!
Craig Dobson. All I want for Christmas is for Steve Kean to get the backing of the board and the fans and save Blackburn from relegation. I'm not a Rovers fan, but I just feel sorry for the guy and the team. 'Tis the season of goodwill, but I'm probably asking for a little too much.
Alan Belmore. All I want for Christmas is for Liverpool's shots to be a couple more inches more accurate! Already hit the post 18 times this season. Also, it would be nice for Horsham to get a bit of money so we aren't rooted to the bottom of the Ryman Premier League come the end of the season! I would also like Vanburgh's darts team to carry on on our unbeaten run for the rest of the season!
Steve Puddicombe. All I want for Christmas is a ticket to next season's Champions League for Tottenham. Don't mind waiting 'till summer to confirm it, or not getting any new players in the meantime. If delivered instead to next door's address, i.e. Arsenal, I wouldn't object to creeping round there overnight to steal it.
Sam Holloway. All I want for Christmas is a nice 'red Robin'. Van Persie to stay at Arsenal and a sign a new contract. If this happens, I definitely owe santa one.
