Still in the Christmas mood, the York Tories provide us with a political Christmas Carol.

  • Hark! The happy Tories sing,
  • “we’re six points ahead today;
  • Strikes have gone, the weather’s mild,
  • Home and party reconciled!”
  • Joyful, all ye nations rise,
  • Join the triumph of the skies;
  • With th’angelic host proclaim,
  • “We Vetoed the settlement!”
  • Hark! the happy Tories Sing,
  • “Glory to the good P.M.!”
  • Once, we were so put-upon;
  • Forced to fix the deficit;
  • No money, and a huge debt,
  • Coalition with Nick Clegg.
  • On we pressed with our Plan A;
  • Saved our rating o’er the odds,
  • To the point, the French got cross,
  • As they had not done the work.
  • Hark! the happy Tories Sing,
  • “Glory to the good P.M.!”
  • Eurozone troubles have found,
  • Our economy is sound!
  • Glad we kept our currency,
  • Rather than take the euro.
  • Miliband still wants us to,
  • Throw over stability.
  • Than stick with the Pound Stirling,
  • And the nation doth agree.
  • Hark! the happy Tories Sing,
  • “Glory to the good P.M.!”
  • On at home the reforms go,
  • Fixing up our shattered realm;
  • As we all can see the need,
  • To fix all that Labour broke.
  • Now display our saving power,
  • Ruined nation now restore;
  • Now in Britain’s union join
  • Celebrate the Jubilee.
  • Hark! the happy Tories Sing,
  • “Glory to the good P.M.!”
  • Once more gathered round the banner,
  • Britannia’s choirs all sing:
  • Even though it’s with Nick Clegg,
  • Reinstated in gov’ment.
  • No more any nation’s pet,
  • Downing Street has got a cat:
  • Little things that make us proud,
  • That Once more, the country’s safe.
  • Hark! the happy Tories Sing,
  • “Glory to the good P.M.!”
