Halifax look to assert their authority

Wednesday, 16th January 2008
Halifax have every reason to be pleased. The reigning College sport champions are already 7 points clear of nearest rivals Goodricke, and sports rep Freddie Cornes is confident they can retain their crown.

"Our favourite moments of last term were winning the netball 1sts league, table tennis and hockey leagues."

"But the best had to be seeing Halifax up on the winners board in the sports centre!"

Quote Seeing as though we are already top it would be good to stay up there throughout the whole year. Quote
Freddie Cornes

Cornes is obviously proud of his college's performance, but he accepts that there is room for improvement.

"[We're looking] to improve in basketball and netball 2nds. We also need football 2nds to get back to their winning ways."

"Our best teams are probably the netball 1sts, table tennis and hockey. They were unbeaten I think."

Cornes was also keen to point out the role of some outstanding individuals.

"Izzy Miller has been awesome in everything she has done, and Kai Tang has been our best performer in racket sports, going unbeaten all year!"

Quote Our biggest fixtures are definitely against Goodricke now. Quote
Freddie Cornes

"We are hoping to finish first [in the overall competition]. Seeing as though we are already top now, it would be good to stay there throughout the whole year, [especially because] we have a bigger lead over Goodricke than we did last year.

"Our biggest fixtures are definitely against Goodricke now."
