A potentially huge Wednesday for York sport sees York host Stirling in table tennis and the football 1sts travel to the University of Central Lancaster.

After disposing of two Stirling sides in the previous two rounds, York have been rewarded with a trip to UCLan firsts. UCLan beat York's city rivals St Johns 3-0 in last weeks last 16 tie.

O'Shea gives some words of wisdom

With teams having to win their division to enter the Plate, both teams have had successful seasons, with UCLan winning the league above York. In a Northern League tie earlier in the season, York lost out 3-2 so will be looking for revenge this Wednesday.

York's table tennis players are playing their first game in the Mens Trophy after a season with only one defeat in the Northern 1A division. This is the division below the Northern Premier so this makes their season all the more impressive.

Stirling play their table tennis in the equivalent league in Scotland so all the signs are there for a tight and exciting match up.

As always, The Yorker will have big match previews, with interviews and a closer look at the teams later in the week. Log on towards the end of the week for in depth match reports from the BUSA knockout.

It's nice to see table tennis getting a bit of recognition, but there should definitely be more coverage in the Yorker, Nouse, and Vision. This is a club that has consistenly performed at a high level all season, and narrowly missed out on a playoff into the BUSA premier division, as well as beating the first teams of more traditionally sport-based universities such as Teesside, Sheffield, and Leeds.
