BUCS Review

Thursday, 13th November 2008
A return to home turf for many clubs today saw a return to winning form. Men's football, Rugby Union and Netball all fared better on the hallowed turf of 22 acres and the tent as York showed its bouncebackability in BUCS this Wednesday.

1sts Football V Sheffield Hallam 12/11/08
Football 1sts one of few to suffer defeat on 22 Acres

A rare calm day on 22 acres didn't stop York from getting the wind in its sails. Men's Rugby Union 1sts and 3rds were unstoppable, winning 105-0 and 66-5 respectively. 1sts Captain Callis described their resounding win as a "Complete waste of time. We didn't learn anything, they didn't learn anything." The 2nds game was abandoned owing to a water logged pitch.

Men's football 1sts were a rare blotch on the York copybook as they fell 1-0 to Sheffield Hallam 1sts. The goal came from a sloppily defended set-piece and despite creating decent chances the 1sts failed to recover. The 2nds and 3rds recorded valuable wins 4-1 and 2-1 respectively.

Netball 1sts and 2nds added to the win tally against Teeside as did Men's Badminton 1sts against Leeds. Despite a disappointing loss for Men's Hockey 1sts at rivals York St John, York fared well on a day where its teams, and BUCS points, came back home.
