BUCS Review

Wednesday, 26th November 2008
A tough away day for York saw only a few wins in November's last set of league fixtures.

Rugby Ball
Men's Rugby 1sts secured a well fought 8-6 win

A difficult away day saw most clubs fall short of full points in their fixtures today, as they struggled to perform away from the comfort of 22 acres.

Men's football 1sts drew 3-3 away at Sheffield 1sts in a great display that deserved 3 points. Goals came from a smashed free-kick from Wilson, a 1-on-1 from O'Shea and Mckellow from a corner left York 3-1 up with 5 minutes to play. Unfortunately a late opposition onslaught caused havoc in York's area and Sheffield eventually equalised from a corner with the last touch of the game. The 3rd team were also restricted to a draw but the 4ths gained an impressive 4-0 win away at Teeside, with two goals from Stu Brown.

Men's Rugby 1sts won 8-6 at Leeds, avenging the 2nds defeat to the same team last week. Captain Callis was happy with some individual performances, highlighting Alexander Redshaw at the line-out and Rob Grant's kick pressure, but thought they could give more as a team. The 2nds went down 14-10 against St John's 1sts and the 3rds lost 24-12 to Sheffield Hallam.

The Netball 1sts carried on their fine form that sees them in 2nd place in BUCS 4B with an assured 29-12 win over bottom placed St John.
