- NBC have announced that Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights) has been cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming television reboot. The pilot will be written and produced by David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Boston Legal).

- Rupert Penry-Jones has suggested that a third series of Whitechapel is in the works, despite poor ratings for last year’s second outing. ITV have yet to confirm or deny the rumours.

- Life Unexpected star Britt Robertson has been cast in The CW’s supernatural pilot Secret Circle. The pilot will be based on the series of books written by L.J. Smith.

- Despite a vigorous Twitter campaign spearheaded by the delightful Hugh Bonneville, the BBC have confirmed that there are no plans to make further episodes of Just William, which aired over the Christmas holidays.

- Lost’s ever-creepy and always excellent Michael Emerson has been cast as the lead in Jonah Nolan’s CBS pilot Person of Interest. It will be executive-produced by Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams.

Maria Doyle Kennedy

- Five new actors have been announced for the second series of Downton Abbey, including Maria Doyle Kennedy, best known for her role as Katherine of Aragon in The Tudors, and former Emmerdale actress Amy Nuttall. The other confirmed actors are Cal Macaninch (Holby Blue), Zoe Boyle (Sons of Anarchy) and Iain Glen (Wives and Daughters).

- Due to rapidly declining ratings, the BBC have taken the unusual step of moving Outcasts from its current primetime slot. This week’s episode on Monday at 9pm will be the last before it moves to Sunday at 10.25pm from the 27th February.

- AMC have released new promos for The Killing, their upcoming drama. The show is a remake of the 2007 Danish television series about a homicide and the resulting investigation. It is not known when this series will reach us in the UK.

    South Riding

- Andrew Davies’ adaptation of South Riding comes to our screens this Sunday at 9pm on BBC1. Set in the 1930s and based on Winifred Hotlby’s Yorkshire-set novel, Anna Maxwell Martin takes the lead role of fiery headmistress Sarah Burton, while support comes from Penelope Wilton, Peter Firth and (most importantly of all) David Morrissey. Definitely one to watch.

- The first season of The Chris Rock Show is showing on Sky Atlantic, beginning at 10.30pm on this coming Monday.

- Criminal Justice writer Peter Moffat’s experiences as a lawyer should bring an interesting edge to new BBC1 courtroom drama Silk, which stars Maxine Peake and Rupert Penry-Jones and starts this Tuesday at 9pm.

- The Walking Dead, a terrifyingly tense zombie show that debuted last November, will be re-airing the first of the six episodes in its premiere season (‘Days Gone Bye’) on Wednesday at 10pm on FX.

- Jo Frost continues to help families learn to look after their children - the fifth season of Supernanny USA begins on Channel 4 at 9am on Thursday.

- Hit ITV1 comedy Benidorm returns for a bawdy fourth series on Friday at 9pm.

- New sitcom Friday Night Dinner unites two Channel 4 comedy dynasties in the form of Green Wing’s Tamsin Greig and The Inbetweener’s Simon Bird. See if they can create new magic for the channel on Friday at 10pm.
