X Factor Final - The Results Liveblog

The X Factor - Kelly Rowland
Sunday, 11th December 2011
Stay tuned to The Yorker throughout the X Factor final as Jacob Martin and friends bring you the latest excitement, gossip and news.

21:29 Well, that's it. But don't worry, you can switch over to The Xtra Factor, and you'll only have to wait 8 months till the next series. Woo.

21:27 Hmm, they've stopped singing, but the song is still playing...

21:27 Well I make that about 1 and a half minutes.

21:25 Here's the winner's single again! Let's guess how long before all the other contestants totally surpisingly, and spontaneously come onto the stage.

21:24 Dermot, don't just cut Jesy off mid-sentence.

21:23 Oh I am sorry that Marcus/Gary didn't win.

21:22 They're lost for words and crying!

21:21 Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Little Mix! Thoroughly thoroughly deserved.

21:21 ...is...

21:21 And the winner is...

21:20 What?! No VT? And I was looking forward to it...

21:19 This is it. The final part of the final result of the final!

21:19 Look it's Downton again. Will it be a merry Christmas, though?

21:17 As for who's going to win, it's got to be Little Mix, hasn't it? Please let it not be Marcus; in the real world he’ll probably sell fewer than Joe McElderry, and only a few more than Leon… oh, what was his name…?

21:16 Lois, I would rather have the pizza.

21:14 Oh I wonder what that missing word is...

21:14 Lines are closed. Oh gosh, this is it! Well, after the break, a VT and the infamous 9 year pause...

21:13 Chris Martin made Dermot work for those answers.

21:11 Louis looks like he's having fun in the confetti.

21:08 Oh, they're doing two songs!

21:07 Chris Martin (no relation) is breaking out in a bit of a sweat. He must be anxious about who's going to win too.

21:06 That's a lot of flashing lights.

21:03 Well, after the obligatory VT...

21:03 Here they come!

21:02 Little Mix should release 'Don't Let Go?' as their single.

21:01 Oh, well you don't need to look away just yet because it's recap time. Alternatively, you could just walk to Australia and Coldplay might have finished by the time you get back.

20:59 WARNING: Coldplay are coming on any minute. All haters look away now.

20:58 Come on everybody. Who's going to win? Comment below!

20:55 Time for a break? Shock.

20:54 Since when was Philip Schofield called Pip Schofield?

20:54 You do realise there's still half an hour till the result.

20:53 Kleenex delivery needed urgently.

20:52 It's OTT VT time!

20:51 Tulisa's just proving that she can remember all their names.

20:50 Louis, don't you get emotional as well.

20:49 Though I'm sure it will.

20:48 I wish they'd picked a more upbeat track for the winner's single. I can't really imagine it soaring up the charts.

20:47 There's more power in this version, already.

20:46 I've realised there have only been about 8 minutes of singing so far.

20:45 Tulisa's looking upset now! It's too much!

20:44 I hope Little Mix manage to do something a bit more exciting with the song.

20:44 I just don’t know if I can cope with all this emotion. I hope they’re saving all that water to top up the reservoirs.

20:41 Gary's going to cry!

20:41 I wouldn't have picked that song for him either Gary.

20:40 A smile doesn't sell records, though, does it?

20:40 Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

20:39 Oh, I thought he was going to bust a gut mid-song there! And yay - a choir!

20:38 This couldn't be more boring if Stephen Mulhern was singing it.

20:38 Typical X Factor song material about flying high. And it's not even an original song. Let-down!

20:36 It sounds like a ballad.

20:35 Take That alert!

20:35 It's winner's single time. Let's hope it's better than the rubbish they've had in the last couple of years.

20:34 Oh aren't we all looking forward to The Only Way is EsseXmas...

20:29 You don't know how glad I am to see that black and white flashy thing this time round.

20:27 When you watch the auditions in the background, you realise it started off as a good series. So what happened?

20:26 A cover.

20:25 And now it’s Westlife. I wonder if they’ll sing a really drippy ballad, or just a cover of a really drippy ballad.

20:24 Kelly, you can hear him. You've just switched him off like the rest of us.

20:23 Yesterday, we had Marcus Toast. Today, Little Mix Pizza.

20:22 Dermot, I repeat, see Sarah Lund.

20:22 Wow, Dermot made a joke!

20:21 Kelly, they may be good sweaters. But Sarah Lund's is better.

20:20 You can tell Louis likes Little Mix more than Marcus.

20:20 That was so much better than Marcus. Bravo!

20:19 I think they've now proved that they can all sing, and not just Perri.

20:18 Little Mix are doing a Mariah-ified version of 'Silent Night'.

20:18 Tulisa: "It's the Final." NO!

20:17 Marcus' best friend looked like she had to think about whether she enjoyed that performance.

20:16 Does Marcus just say "I really enjoyed that one" about every performance he does?

20:15 Gary's going to do something he hasn't done all series. Sadly, it isn't smiling.

20:14 Louis liked it so much he just said he likes how happy he Marcus is.

20:13 Marcus isn't doing a bad job, but I still think he was singing better at the start of the competition than he is now.

20:12 At least we were spared another VT: "Well I used to play this song like every Christmas, and well, it's just so Christmassy..."

20:11 And we're back! Oh, Dermot's just got in a joke about a Christmas cracker.

20:10 Look, it's Sherlock Holmes 2! It's supposed to be really good, but we all know what reviews are like...

20:09 Does anyone know anything about what the winner's single will be? The biggest rumour is that Gary has penned it; hopefully, it will be better than his last effort, Matt Cardle’s ‘Run for Your Life’, which left me wanting to do exactly that when I heard it.

20:07 Ooh, at least we can look forward to the Christmas songs coming our way! Oh, and don't forget to get your applications in for next year's series...

20:06 No, the black and white flashy thing's come on in the corner. That means more adverts, guys!

20:03 Oh Kelly's having a good cry. And she's just said "you've worked yorz butts off".

20:02 The judges aren't standing up for them. Rude.

20:01 I'm happy to report that they're doing really well.

20:00 This probably is the best song choice for them, though. And that was a great entrance!

19:59 It’s a wonder they had any time to rehearse their performances with all the VTs they’ve been filming.

19:59 Finally, it's time for Little Mix!

19:58 This is about the seventh time I've seen the Downton trailer.

19:55 The Wonga advert is Ad of the Year for me!

19:54 He does have a good 'vote for me' smile, I'll give him that. Unlike a certain Eoghan I can think of...

19:52 Even his own mother can't believe he's got this far.

19:52 Gary basically just said Marcus is the best act ever. He's wrong.

19:51 I predict a bright future for him too if he keeps wearing that jacket.

19:50 Louis is just repeating yesterday's comments.

19:50 Actually, I'm getting a bit concerned for my favourite choir. They'll be worn out after the exercise routine they're putting themselves through.

19:49 Oh Marcus go away; I just want the choir.

19:48 Woo!

19:48 Oh no Marcus is doing 'Higher and higher' again. Well it least we'll get to see the marvellous choir again. If I can't vote for Johnny, can I vote for them?

19:47 The theme is their favourite songs of the series. That doesn't bode well.

19:45 Well, until the last bit.

19:45 I used to be exactly like the kid in this advert.

19:44 It's a Barclays advert narrated by Stephen Merchant!!

19:42 Just when I thought it might actually start, we're having a break!

19:42 I still can't get over how good Tulisa was yesterday.

19:41 Tulisa's just said Wembley was on fire! Didn't she think to call someone?

19:39 Another recap specially for Dory.

19:39 Aw, that was fun. Just 110 minutes to go, folks.

19:38 It's amazing how quickly I've forgotten about Kitty.

19:38 Craig, you were robbed too.

19:37 Here's Johnny!!!! Can I vote for him?

19:37 Janet, you were robbed.

19:37 Oh look it's all of the other finalists. I don't even remember that boyband.

19:36 Here come Marcus and Little Mix singing Rihanna out of tune. But they're still better than Rihanna.

19:35 Also, who dressed Louis tonight?

19:34 It's going to take Tulisa about 10 Dickson recaps to get to the desk in that dress.

19:34 Does Tulisa realise that we can’t read her tattoo? Probably not seen as reading isn’t a skill she seems very familiar with.

19:33 For the last time (because it's the FINAL) here are the judges.

19:33 I love how less excited Dermot is a bout Westlife than Coldplay.

19:32 Dermot has just spelled out everything that Dickson has already said.

19:32 I'm not going to miss Dermot. But I am grateful he's not dancing.

19:31 Well at least Wembley seems a bit quieter tonight…

19:31 You know, I think I’m going to miss Peter Dickson’s intros.

19:31 It’s time. To disgrace. The music!

19:29 Gary Barlow says he's ready to fight. And I'm willing to fight him.

19:29 It's starting! And here’s a rerun of everything that happened last night. Basically: tears, Take That songs and various modes of transport.

19:27 It’s a new dawn! It’s a new day! It’s a new liveblog for youuu! Hello and welcome everybody. Are you all excited? If you are, I’m sure Gary will soon see to that.

"19:32 I'm not going to miss Dermot. But I am grateful he's not dancing" - true, his dancing is terrible!!! But I will miss him!

Hopefully the site won't collapse tonight....

And all these people being brough back remind us that Marcus and Little Mix are probably the two worst singers in the competition. What has the British public done?!?!?!

Errr, isn't that Damien Rice?

I think the decision we all have to make, really, is which we'd prefer to eat: Marcus toast or Little Mix pizza? I think that's really the most important part of the whole competiton.

Personally, I'd prefer to eat the toast, but I think Little Mix have this in the bag.

Well, the woman did assure us that ALL HER FOOD ART TASTES GOOD, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, so you probably made a wise decision, Jacob.
