My friends have gradually fallen to the trend as they have started to straighten their hair, moisturise and one even admitted to wearing concealer from time to time. Needless to say he is no longer my friend. After reading yesterday’s article, Metrosexual Madness?, I felt compelled to give you my view on the subject and it may surprise you…
When this new trend first came to life I could not believe that guys would do this to themselves. However, after I thought about it for a while it became obvious why guys were becoming more metrosexual: they thought it was the best way to get girls. And they seemed to be right.
I tried to stay true to myself and tell myself that this was just a phase that would eventually die out. However, a couple of years later and I’m not so sure. Girls seem to love this new type of man, you don’t need to look further than Johnny Depp or Zac Efron. These are possibly the most adored celebrity men by female fans - and they’re constantly wearing make-up. At university I have had to adapt in order to survive. After going out and being confronted by well-groomed men in skinny jeans who seemed to have all the attention of their female counterparts, I decided that it was time for a change.
After going to Topman and purchasing a pair of skinny jeans I decided to hit Ziggy's and see if my £20 paid off and I can say that it most certainly did. After waking up on Thursday morning and having breakfast with a delightful young lady I decided that this new found fashion definitely had its advantages.
Now I’m not a metrosexual, not by any stretch of the imagination. However, I have definitely started to look after myself a bit more. If I go out I might throw on a shirt or maybe even spray a bit of Davidoff but I would draw the line at straightening my hair and wearing guyliner, even if Johnny Depp does.
For guys to be successful they have to find the balance. Girls don’t want a guy who is more fashion-conscious than them nor do they want the old-fashioned rugged uncommunicative type. What girls want is to be difficult and find a man who looks good, listens well, but still manages to go down the pub with his mates to watch the football. Funnily enough, a guy like me.
lol

Have to disagree with the latter part of this sentence. Rugged all the way!
