In the last game of the season, with a potential second place up for grabs, York played some of their best basketball to date against their opponents in order to finish on a high note.
Despite a poor first quarter York managed to come back and then surpass their opponents, comfortably finishing the game in the fourth quarter. A combination of strong post play, good passing and experience by York led the team to victory.
In a game predicted to be the highlight of basketball at this year’s Varsity, York found they had a much easier game on their hands than previously expected after St. John lost to York Seconds.
In a game as predictable as the rising of the sun, York Women’s thrashed St. John throughout the entire game. After the game President Kate Smith apologised to several spectators for just how boring the game became. The team, the crowd, and this reporter, all can’t wait for the Women to be promoted to face the rivals that fit their calibre.
In a game that was earlier described as merely a formality to tire out St. John, several York players shone on the court, playing their first competitive game, and galvanised the crowd behind them through a fantastic final quarter.
