The UK’s Government Communications Headquarters is targeting Xbox Live as a great place to pick up recruits. According to the GCHQ, the 18 to 34 year old demographic who play online games are desirable for their “quick thinking, problem solving and team work.” GCHQ is one of the three UK intelligence agencies; the others, which are slightly better known are MI5 and MI6.

Despite Tony Hawk Ride being given some very unfavourable reviews since its release in the America last week, Tony Hawk has said that he really wants to see a sequel to the new peripheral based skateboarding game. The pro skater has also said that he hopes that other games will make use of the unique control method and possibly incorporate it into their games. With the other big peripheral based release this Christmas, DJ Hero not doing as well as expected, let’s hope Mr. Hawk doesn’t hold his breath. Tony Hawk Ride will be released in the UK on 4th December.
Wednesday:
Rockstar has announced that Red Dead Redemption, which has been pushed back countless times, has a fixed release date of 27th April. The sandbox Western game will feature everything you know and love about the Wild Wild West (minus Will Smith and Kevin Kline of course) with that famous Rockstar twist. Let’s hope it doesn’t cause as much of an uproar as Grand Theft Auto IV did.
Thursday:
Activision and Infinity Ward are getting behind the charity War Child with a new initiative to raise money for them. Entitled ‘Game for Good’, the fundraising is linked to the hugely successful Modern Warfare 2, and anyone can participate purely by playing the game on Xbox Live between the 5th and 6th December. If more than 600,000 UK users log on, then War Child will get a donation of £150,000, with a further £25,000 will be donated for every 100,000 users after that, up to a maximum of £250,000. What a nice gesture from the folks behind Call of Duty.
Friday:
While no real specifics were given, Infinity Ward did announce that the first Modern Warfare 2 downloadable content will see a Spring 2010 release. With the content under great speculation, Infinity Ward refused to comment on the specifics. While the previous Call of Duty games have just seen multiplayer map packs, rumours are abound that the Modern Warfare 2 DLC will bring anything from new Spec Ops missions to some bonus story content featuring Ghost’s back story. Guess we’ll just have to be surprised then.
