Arkham City release date announced
Batman: Arkham Asylum was a brilliant mix of stealth, action and the crazy comic universe of Batman and his friends. The sequel, Arkham City, has finally been given a release date of October 18th for the USA and October 21st for Europe. On the cards is a radical expansion of the Batman world so convincingly seen in Asylum, more villains, but above all the Joker himself. Voiced by Mark Hamill (Luke off the original Star Wars) this is a high-profile event. I can't wait
We Don't Dare
Last weeks Games News mentioned We Dare, a game that had received a lot of negative criticism for the way in which it was advertised (stripping and slapping being the order of the day) when the game itself was only a 12+. Well Ubisoft seem to have taken the criticism to heart, and as a result will not be releasing the game in the UK. Neither, unsurprisingly, will it be available in the USA.
New Star Wars game trailer
Who remembers Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? The game is rightly acknowledged as being a classic and is still the benchmark to which all other games are set. The latest game Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fate of the Galaxy, apart from being quite a mouthful, is causing a lot of excitement and actually looks quite good. Here's the latest trailer
Warhammer 40,000 MMORPG has a $50million budget
If like me, you grew up being a massive Warhammer geek, obsessing over Space Marines and paying extortionate prices for the Games Workshop models, you will have no doubt played the Dawn of War series to death. They have proved lucrative for THQ, who have announced a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, think World of Warcraft) Warhammer 40,000 game. It will have a budget of 50 million. To put that in context that's bigger than many movies. THQ have announced they expect a significant return on this, and to be honest it's got me very excited.
Dance Hero
Just a month after it was announced that the Guitar Hero series is winding down rumour has it that Activision have started work on a series tentatively named Dance Hero. Though news is still very much embryonic, I can't help wondering if it will come packaged with the same dance mat seen in games like Dance Dance Revolution. Tracks named include Prodigy's "Out of Space" and Timberland's "The Way I Are". Activision have patented the name "Dance Hero" in 2008, so it does seem like a release is on the cards.
