Deus Ex Trailer Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of my more anticipated games of 2011. The original Deus Ex was hugely original, non-linear and, most of all, fun. A new trailer, depicting just how you can blow stuff up, and boasting weapons exclusive to those who pre-order, looks very fun. Trailer below
No Farmville on Xbox Live
Zynga is the company that runs Farmville, Mafia Wars, City Ville and all those other little games that distract you while you're on Facebook. Rumour had it in the last few weeks that they were going to be launched onto Xbox Live. Well that rumour has now been comprehensively crushed. Apparently the market is simply too small; over 500 million people have Facebook, whereas only 30 million have Xbox Live, and the demographic in each market is wildly different. This is proof that while free online games are tremendously popular, they still have yet to make the jump to 'proper', downloadable games.
More Mass Effect 2 Downloadable Content The last downloadable content for Mass Effect 3 is due to arrive on March 29th. Commander Shepherd will travel to the edge of the galaxy to find out horrible truths about a potential Reaper invasion that seems to wrap into very nicely what Mass Effect 3 will be about. It'll sell for 500 Microsoft points on the Xbox and 360 Bioware points on the PC, which should have it retailing about £5-10 for the Playstation 3.
Prey 2 Trailer Prey was a briliantly fun game and the sequel looks to continue in its fine tradition. The trailer is suitably teasing, recalling Cloverfield and most other shaky cam movies, but it's got me excited for the release.
Japan Tsunami Affects Videogames
The tragic events in Japan have also affected video game networks. With rolling power blackouts to conserve energy, online game servers for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIV have been cut. A game called Disaster Report has been canned in the light of the tragedy and Motorstorm: Apocalypse has had its release delayed
Don't forget the good done by videogame companies in the wake of the Tsunami. Sony and Nintendo both donated around $3m to relief efforts, as did numerous others. Even PopCap is donating all sales from its iOS games this week! So if you want to donate but aren't feeling too charitable, go buy Plants vs Zombies!
