Recipe for modern R'n'B album: liberal helpings of guest rappers and an overdose of sexual euphemisms.
Earlier this month, The Yorker brought news of the first line-up announcement from Latitude Festival, including Obelisk Arena headliners Florence + The Machine, Belle and Sebastian and Vampire Weekend. Continuing the flow of exciting (mostly) young bands, here's the latest from the Sunrise Coast...
Across the festival's main music arenas, today's announcement without question points Latitude in the direction of what might just be its best line-up yet. The main Obelisk Arena now boasts the remarkable Dirty Projectors and recent favourites The Temper Trap. Proponents of recent folk from both sides of the Atlantic also join, in the shape of Frank Turner and Midlake. Relative veterans Spoon will play songs from their latest album Transference, whilst recently reformed James are on the bill too.
Past-Latitude favourites Wild Beasts add to their Green Man date with a set at the big top of The Word Arena, alongside London folkies Noah & the Whale, Brooklyn psych-rockers Yeasayer and Chief. Following a standout show in 2008 with his band Sigur Rós (see below), Jónsi supports Grizzly Bear on the Sunday night. Added to that, the Sunrise Arena in the woods plays host to the likes of Archie Bronson Outfit and Lupen Crook.
Latitude Festival is held at Henham Park in Suffolk, 15-18 July. Tickets are £155 (£65 per day).
