Big D releases theme SinneD

SinneD
This year's theme- SinneD
Thursday, 6th May 2010
Derwent College's biggest and most popular event of the year Big D will this year take a turn to the dark side with its risqué theme SinneD. With tickets selling out in under 45 minutes for last year's WonDerland based on Lewis Carroll's book, this year's event is not to be missed.

Headlined by Audio Bullys and Chase & Status, there will also be performances by Reverend Soundsystem, a DJ set from Reverend and the Makers, True Ingredients, Breakz and others.

SinneD, Thursday Week 10, will transform Langwith and Derwent Colleges into a giant festival like space complete with laser tent, food stalls and an inflatable human football table. Students will be able to wander round the 7 Deadly Sins inspired venue, ending the year on a high.

Organised by Derwent vice chairs Flick Saunders and Emma Warren, Big D has traditionally raised considerable amounts of money for charity. Preceded by daytime event Little D, a Victorian style fête featuring food, games and society performances, it promises to be a jam packed day of frivolity.

The preview video, launched today, features students for the University of York. Becky Young, playing Gluttony told The Yorker "It was a lot of fun filming, the atmosphere was electric. It was kind of scary sitting on a chair on a table but I got to eat lots of cake."

Make up society President Catherine Davenport was in charge of creating the look for each sin. She said "it was a lot of fun in trying to use colour and make up to create a mood to represent each sin."

Tickets go on sale Friday week 3 (14th May) from www.yusu.org/tickets. At the SinneD launch party, Thursday Week 3, the first 100 tickets will be on sale. Price is yet to be announced.
