James College does Quad Dash

James College spirit
Sunday, 6th June 2010
James College was transformed into an expansive fete yesterday in lieu of the annual Quad Dash event. In the name of college spirit, a bouncy castle and sumo suits were installed in one of James’ quads and races took place around the college. Students spent the day interacting with one another and enjoying the almost perfect weather.

James Quad Dash is an annual college event sponsored and coordinated by the JCRC. This year’s committee expanded the event, inviting performers such as York Dance Society and York Samba Band to provide entertainment. McQ’s bar hosted Pimm’s and a BBQ which was hugely popular with students.

James College Provost Neil Lunt described the day as “a really well-organised event that was a credit to the efforts of the JCRC. A HUGE turnout and great weather. The Pimm's tent and BBQ earlier in the day was a big success. All in all - the premier College summer event.”

College chair Tim Green, sporting tiger face paint for the day, told The Yorker “today’s activities have been superbly organised by James Ents reps. We’ve reused the highlights from last year like the bouncy castle, but with added excitement.”

Between running around with a megaphone and ensuring the event was running smoothly, Ents rep Michael Moloney told The Yorker “I’m absolutely shattered! But this is going really well. I love seeing how much fun everyone is having.”

Quad Dash preceded night time counterpart event Quad Bash, which saw live bands, DJ’s and RAG take over James Hall. Headline act The Cess Allan Band was hugely popular, as was DJ Bay6. RAG launched James Got Talent, raising £55 for charity, and seeing Tim Robson win the James title.
