Animal Collective – Fall Be Kind EP

Animal Collective
Wednesday, 16th December 2009
Animal Collective never disappoint. Ever. It’s now a certified fact. The band can do no wrong. Their music consists of crazy electronic psychedelic randomness that has an ethereal quality unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. ''Fall Be Kind'' is no exception.

Following the stunning Merriweather Post Pavilion, Animal Collective’s eighth studio album released in January of this year, the new EP features five brand new studio tracks that see the originally Baltimore-based group go from strength to strength. Whether it’s the joyful flute sounds of ‘Graze’, the unusual time signatures of ‘What Would I Want? Sky’, the syncopated beats of ‘I Think I Can’ or the murmuring noises of 'Bleeding', Animal Collective exhibit astonishing musicianship. Fans – expect all the usual quirks of a band that’s taken electronic music to a whole new level. Their music seems to wash over you, in an almost transcendental way. Their songs build up in amazingly complex layers that create an almost visual impact. In short, it’s another incredible record from this remarkable band.

Despite all this, Animal Collective aren’t for everyone. I’m sure some people would rather listen to their dishwashers, and there will be some that are put off by the seven-minute epics. However, for those prepared to try something new and appreciate astounding musical talent, Animal Collective are the ones to listen to.
