York nightclubs set to change

Ziggys
Ziggy's: set to change
Saturday, 2nd April 2011
Ziggy’s and Bpm have both set out plans to alter their venues and give them new names.

Ziggy’s, which has been taken over by Roll Your Own Dice Ltd. is being renamed Mansion in view of the historic listed building in which it is located. It is to undergo a £100,000 refit and twenty new jobs will be created.

General Manager Ed Gallagher said he hopes that the venue will become York’s ‘shining light’ in the late night industry, and said that the new owners ‘have taken the daring decision to invest heavily in this venue’. The twenty new jobs will consist of five full time and fifteen part time, and the club will be open seven nights a week, offering a wide variety of entertainment. Gallagher said that the club has teamed up with some of the city’s biggest DJ’s and promoters, ‘to bring customers everything from frantic student nights to fantastic local talent to awesome club nights’.

Bpm, in Rougier Street, will become Bar Salvation to mark its 21st anniversary under its current owners Russ Brown and Nip Judson. Michelle Keegan, who plays barmaid Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street, will be guest of honour next Friday when the club comes of age and is renamed. The first 200 guests through the door after the bar opens at 8pm will receive complementary chocolates and champagne.

A spokesperson said Bpm had been aimed at a clientele looking for the best in music, dance, and sound and light technology but would now revert back to being ‘more of a bar’ where people of all ages could meet and relax before heading over to Club Salvation.

#2 regardless of the content of your comment, at least proof-read for errors before submitting. As much as I want to, I find it hard to sympathise with those who comment on the yorker when they make such glaring mistakes in their grammar.
