Band: The Mountaineering Club

The Mountaineering Club
The Mountaineering Club
Sunday, 23rd May 2010
The Mountaineering Club (TMC) consists of Thomas Adams (vocals, guitars, keys), Dan Jeffries (vocals, guitars, theramin), Leo Plunkett (laptop, saxophones) and Richard Blake (keys, bass, trumpet).

The band was originally formed under the guise ‘sleep’ (named after a Godspeed You! Black Emperor track) by Tom and Dan in 2008. After undergoing various reinventions and lineup changes they were joined by Leo and Rich in 2009 and The Mountaineering Club was born. The band is often joined live by visuals artist Duncan Fermor.

Blending a wide array of influences from IDM/electronica, jazz, shoegaze, pop, ambient music and folk, The Mountaineering Club create music that romanticises an age of exploration inspired by the stories and deeds of men such as Mallory, Scott, Nansen, Simpson, Norgay and Irvine. Songs of nostalgia and regret, love and sacrifice, the great outdoors and adventure.

Welcome to The Mountaineering Club.

Upcoming gig on May 25th at The Basement Bar, York. Click here for details.
