Duchess of York “Fergie” caught on tape

The Duchess of York
Duchess of York shaking on the deal
Sunday, 23rd May 2010
Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, also known as “Fergie”, was caught on tape agreeing to sell access to her ex-husband Prince Andrew to a reporter of News of the World, who she was tricked into believing was a wealthy businessman.

According to News of the World, Fergie “promised” to introduce the reporter to Prince Andrew and “claimed” the Duke of York would fix him up with “lucrative deals”. The newspaper also reported that she “demanded a cut of all profits”.

Prince Andrew is a UK trade envoy, which involves him promoting British business both nationally and internationally. In the video showing Fergie making a deal with the undercover reporter, she is filmed assuring him that Prince Andrew “meets the most amazing people” on his job.

“£500,000 when you can to me … open doors”, said Fergie on camera, just before she shook hands with the reporter on the ”deal” and agrees on a deposit of £40,000 in cash, which she requests be put in a bag.

Fergie looked fidgety and slightly distressed on film as the money was laid out in front of her on the table.

Fergie was also filmed asking for £500,000 in a wire transfer “completely above board” to an HSBC account, which will “open all the channels”. She also told the reporter, “That’s when you meet Andrew, and that’s fine.”

“You will be his friend. I will listen to the “friendship talk” between you two… I listen. Then I activate,” said Fergie.

The paper allegedly met with the Duchess twice to negotiate this deal. BBC News reported that Fergie’s spokesperson Kate Waddington “had not been told about the meeting”.

According to News of the World, Prince Andrew was also unaware of the deal.

Prince Andrew and Fergie were married from 1986 to 1996, but remained close friends after the divorce.
