Flooding Triggers Network Outage On Eve Of Exams

A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.

Another student's life claimed by the river

A York St. John student has become the latest fatality of the River Foss.

Mature student Kingsley Hoffman was found dead near Heworth Bridge in the city centre at 3:25pm last Tuesday.

Hoffman was well known by York students for guitar performances in local pubs and busking around town.

Friends said that Mr Hoffman was "outgoing, lively, helpful and generous".
