Goodricke goes naked!

Goodricke naked calendar
Goodrickers - au naturel for charity
Monday, 19th May 2008
Goodricke College is to shoot a naked calendar to raise money for charity.

The John Goodricke Deaf Children Fund, established in the honour of Goodricke's namesake, has always been a traditional choice for fundraising within the college.

This year Goodricke JCRC decided to try something different and raise money through a naked calendar.

Following in the footsteps of the Vanbrugh Football team, around 40 members of Goodricke will be pictured in various locations around the college at the weekend of Week 5.

Goodricke third year Chris Maclay, who will be featured in the calendar along with all of his housemates from Melbourne Court, said: “You see I was born for this, I ain't been pumping my dong full of growth hormones for nothing!”

However, the calendar will be in the style of Calendar Girls, with models covered with various items, related to the theme of that month’s picture.

Members of Goodricke staff, such as the provost Jane Clarbour, deputy provost Phil Prosser and administrator Gill Macdonald, will also be taking part.

Goodricke's calendar will cover next academic year (from October 2008-October 2009) and should be available to buy before the end of term.

Somebody on Goodricke JCRC should not be writing a "news" story about Goodricke JCRC.... and what a pointless "quote". Whatever happened to the Yorker's aspirations to professional and impartial journalism???

otherwise... good publicity for a worthy cause.

Since when did 'professionalism' become synonym for 'humourless'?
Impartiality? I understand someone raising this issue if any opinions or judgments were made in the article but, GIVEN THAT IT IS NOT THE CASE, I really think anon 1 should think hard about what he wrote.
I wonder who this silly anonymous person is anyway. I hope I am not unlucky enough to know him!

Professionalism isn't regurgitating press releases.

Guys, lighten up. It's some publicity for a good cause. Take it easy!

Exactly! Congrats Joe- its a good cause with a laugh in it too. Incidentally, are you in the calendar?

Haha, it seems I am going to be in the calendar, couldn't really get out of that one!

"This year Goodricke JCRC decided to try something different"

Really? A Naked Calendar? How innovative! Yawn. It was innovative back in 2000, but old news a year or two later as everyone had their own spin off. It's not even new to campus!

It's good fun/worthy cause/yadda yadda but it's hardly ground breaking.

And Joe Clarke, it doesn't sound very convincing to me that appearing in this is against your will - just admit that you're going to love it!

ps, my point aside, there's nothing wrong with the article at all. There really are some moody people on the internet.

It's a student paper, so its hardly ever going to be impartial when its reporting on campus things, and anyway, its a charity thing.

It annoys me far more, speaking about impartiality, the way that this beach break live thing, a commercial enterprise, seems to be being promoted by YUSU ents people using YUSU money and resources!!

I'd disagree #16, whilst the target audience of The Yorker is students and it is predominantly written and managed by students, it is a private limited company and has no particular bent to show any bias towards college or uni run events. It is also stated that The Yorker aims:

"To hold an independent attitude in all our coverage, reflected in our continued status as an independent company."

What the hell is number 16 talking about?

That's absolute nonsense and if you have a problem then drop by the student centre and we can talk you through it.

it's not YUSU promoting beach break - only promotion going on is by individuals and also by derwent.

Guys guys guys, think about the charity and the stuff that this money is going to do for so many children.

Stop moaning all the time and get a life. Come out of your York bubble and realise there is a world outside the York and The Yorker forum bubbles.

Not aimed at any individual just general thought!

If you live in a glass house then don't throw stones!

On a positive note, the photo shoots today went down really really well. Bring on tomorrow!
