A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.

A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
A jury of six men and six women had found him guilty on Wednesday of murder in the first degree. On 20th January 2006, Entwistle shot his 27-year-old wife Rachel and their nine-month-old daughter Lillian at their Massachussets home. Lillian had been shot in the chest, while Rachel died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Entwistle's lawyer had tried to convince the jury that Rachel killed Lillian and then committed suicide, a claim which Entwistle’s family still support.
The trial began on 2nd June, with 46 witnesses called and over 100 pieces of evidence presented, including some of Lillian’s bloodstained clothes.
Prosecutors based their case on the idea that Entwistle was obsessed with online escort services and murder websites. At the time of the murders he was also unemployed and severely in debt.
During investigation, police instantly began looking for missing Entwistle, finding his rented car at an airport. Police tracked him to the UK, where he had fled, and arrested him on 8th February 2006.
Entwistle was also found guilty of possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
Entwistle met Rachel in 1999 when the both were studying at the University of York. They were both members the university’s rowing club.
