Sexual assault claim withdrawn

Police arrive
Thursday, 20th November 2008
The student in question went to the York Police Station yesterday afternoon and formally withdrew her allegations.

North Yorkshire Police have since officially closed their investigations into the incident.

North Yorkshire Police would like to "reassure the public and local communities that the sexual assault did not take place and the investigation has now been closed."

Police were called Tuesday night by the student who claimed to have been a victim of a 'serious sexual assault' earlier that night on Heslington Lane. The police and university had since put out a call for witnesses.
