NUS Vice-President to speak at debate

Tuition fees debate
Thursday, 5th March 2009
NUS Vice-President Aaron Porter will be speaking at tonight's debate on tuition fees, co-hosted by The Yorker and the Club of PEP.

Also speaking are Pro-Vice Chancellor for Students Jane Grenville, Chair of the York Labour Club David Levene and York Tories Treasurer Charlie Rowley.

The debate is in light of the impending government review of the £3,000 cap, which several universities want to see raised.

Jason Rose is submitting a motion at the UGM which, if passed, will mandate YUSU to fight an increase of the cap. Asked about the debate, Rose said: "The debate is perfectly timed to go with the UGM I submitted. It will hopefully raise awareness amongst students to help them make an informed decision."

The debate will start tonight at 17:45 in ATB/056. For more information, see the blogs by Jason Rose and David Levene and the Facebook event.
