York Apprentice 2009: day two

Calibre
Calibre, the winner's of day two's challenge.
Wednesday, 3rd June 2009
On day two of the York Apprentice, teams were told that their challenge for the day was to "provide a service". Each team was given £10 in which to purchase whatever they needed to provide a service to the students.

The teams were originally briefed for this at 9.15am on Tuesday. However, due to a lack of specification and clarity during the briefing, most of the teams had misinterpreted the task, and began selling things such as ice cream, lemonade and suncream.

The challenge was stopped, the teams were given more explicit rules, and the challenge began again at 1pm. Despite the slight mishap, the day still went well, with teams coming up with interesting ideas such as massages, netball games, and even sponging students with water.

The day's eliminations were crucial as the half of the remaining 12 teams would be eliminated. All in all, Calibre emerged as the winners of the challenge, raising over £146 in total. Collectively, a total of £800 was raised.

The teams that unfortunately were eliminated were High Flyers, A Breath of Fresh Air, Rat Pack, the Ivy Cottagers, and the Potato Heads. The 6 teams still in contention for the £1000 prize at the end of the day were Calibre, mBezel, Vivacity, 2 Snakes a Fox and a Horse, Apex and the Jocks.

Look out for them over the next two days as they prepare for the third challenge, which began today at 9.15am. The third challenge has been revealed as a two-day challenge in which the teams have to come up with their own 30-second advertisement for a new product.
