Nouse successful in NUS Awards

Nouse
Sunday, 14th June 2009
Nouse picked up two of the three NUS Awards for media on Friday night, and was highly commended in the third category.

Nouse won the award for 'Best Student Media', beating other finalists Forge Media from the University of Sheffield, and Manchester-based publication Student Direct.

Regarding the victory, Nouse Editor Henry James Foy said: "It's such an honour to win this award, and means so much to everyone who plays a part in our newspaper.

Foy added: "Everyone involved loves what they do, and works hard to produce the best possible product, and it's the icing on the cake for that work to be recognised as the best in the country. Thanks to the NUS, all the judges, and everyone who contributed to the awards."

Nouse Video Editor Anna Bucks, who was recently elected YUM Chair, picked up the award for 'Best Broadcaster'. Bucks told The Yorker: "I feel very happy and honoured to have won the award. It was the product of a lot of hard work, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who helped me."

The third media award, 'Student Journalist of the Year', saw Foy highly commended. The award went to Liz Rawlings, from Edinburgh University.

The NUS Awards ceremony was held at the Brewery in London, and was hosted by comedian Marcus Brigstocke. Brigstocke, who took part in the BBC2 programme Excuse My French, studied at the University of Bristol.
