Inquest records student’s death as suicide

Pierre Le Moignan
Le Moignan was a fourth year chemistry student
Thursday, 22nd April 2010
An inquest into the death of fourth year chemistry student Pierre Le Moignan has ruled his death a suicide after hearing that “he could not swim”.

The inquest heard that Le Moignan was last seen by a housemate at 10 pm on November 21 last year. A note reading “21 November 2009, 11.18 pm” was found at the Millennium Bridge the following morning and a further note was found by police later with the message “You have all been wonderful. Overall I think it went fairly well. I’m sorry, love.”

His father testified that despite having lived on a boat for considerable periods of his life, Le Moignan was terrified of water and unable to swim.

The inquest was held at Selby Magistrates Court by coroner Rob Turnball who recorded a verdict of suicide. There has been no discoverable reason for his suicide
