Calling all travel writers

bradt
The competition is organised by Bradt travel
Wednesday, 5th May 2010
Written by Emma Burbidge

With holidays approaching, there is no better time to look back at your past experiences abroad and turn it into a great piece of travel writing. The Independent on Sunday has teamed up with the Bradt Travel Guides to develop an exclusive travel writing competition for which anyone can apply, whether they are a professional writer or not.

By just entering a short piece of no more than 800 words, in the theme of the “World at My Feet”, by Friday 14 May 2010, you have the chance of winning the most amazing prize. Not only do entrants get their article published in the Independent on the Sunday Travel Section, but they also get an exciting holiday for two people to Malta and Gozo, generously donated by Visit Malta, staying a fancy hotel amongst beautiful grounds and an award winning spa. You also get a chance to have a future article about this holiday published in the Independent, and are invited to a special ceremony where their story will be announced with Matthew Parris. For new writers, the competition offers a place on a special weekend of writing given by Travellers’ Tales who will share their expertise on travel writing. This is potentially a once in a lifetime opportunity to share your travel stories with the world, get published and have an exciting trip abroad to keep you writing.

You can enter at www.bradtguides.com/travelwriting. Alternatively, you can apply by post at Bradt Travel Guides, (Travel Writing Competition), 23 High Street, Chalfont St Peter, Bucks, SL9 9QE, UK
