Fibbers rumoured to be lining up new student night

fibbers have a 'melt' night on Saturday
Monday, 14th June 2010
With Salvation having replaced Tru as Tuesday’s venue of choice, it appears that further changes are in store for York student’s social life.

Fibbers has been in discussion with YUSU about setting up a dubstep night on Monday for University of York students. The venue, which has seen acts such as Nirvana and Oasis over its 18 year history, already hosts Melt on Saturdays which is popular amongst sections of the student populace.

The club on Stonebow was recently bought by Tokyo Industries who are planning a major renovation and expansion of the venue to increase capacity to 450. Tokyo industries own a number of clubs and bars, most notably Digital in Newcastle.

Students have been positive about a new student night. Adam, a second year history student said “it will be great to get some more variety in the York music scene. Cheese is great but after you hear Baywatch for the fiftieth time you get desperate for a change”.
