Fusion: Playing Games preview

Fusion: Playing Games
Saturday, 26th February 2011
Weekend of Week 8 brings with it this year’s Fusion performance, with the theme: Playing Games.

When asked what inspired this year’s theme, Fusion Creative Director Janey Stephenson told the Yorker she was looking for something “everyone can connect with”.

“Games … play such a large part in our lives: we learn, amuse and distract ourselves through playing games in childhood through to adulthood.”

Also speaking to the Yorker, Fusion President Fiona Lavelle said, “This year's production of Fusion promises to be absolutely spectacular. Our goal was to make the show even more diverse and entertaining than ever before.”

According to Lavelle, this year’s performance will showcase “more student designers” and “lots of guest societies”, for example the Capoeira society. The President also hinted at “several surprises along the way.”

Lavelle also spoke of her experience as Fusion President, saying she has “truly enjoyed every minute of putting the show together.”

“So far the cast has put in over 7000 hours of rehearsal! I have sent over 2000 emails, attended innumerable meetings and had an extortionate number of Fusion related dreams. It has been an all-encompassing commitment, which has been both extremely enjoyable and very demanding,” she continued.

“Seeing a project evolve from its infancy into fruition is a unique experience and I've learnt so much along the way. Everyone involved, from the cast to the committee has grown so much as a result.”

All ticket proceeds will be going to RAG. Click below for information on how your donation will be helping those in need!

This year, Fusion will be performed over three nights instead of two for the first time on March 4, 5, and 6 at 7pm. Tickets are available here for £6.50.
