No, we're not talking about a York students' single release. Instead, S.A week has teamed up with the "Music Education Group" to allow primary school kids to put on a cabaret in central hall.

The play will be put on at 6:30pm on Saturday night in central hall and features 7 - 11 year olds performing cabaret songs from throughout the decade.

Student Action Week co-ordinator, Liz Woolard said: "This week is going to be a huge amount of fun, we've everything planned from training for existing volunteers to a talk about all of our projects, then our huge volunteering fair and as a big finale a concert in central hall where 200 local school children will be performing cabaret songs."

The performance is just one of a packed roster of events including a competition to design a mural to put on the boards which surround the new HERC building. The week will also see a variety of events from volunteering challenges, to competitions and training courses.

The big event on Tuesday is a volunteering fair being held in Goodricke Dining Hall, with 20 local, national and international charities attending to try tempt students to volunteering with their charities.

Quote Having something on your CV that shows you did more than attend Toffs every week is an amazing bonus when it comes to interviews. Quote
Suzanne Bell

Suzanne Bell, Vice-Chair said: "Volunteering is a great way to boost both your CV and your abilities. Having something on your CV that shows you did more than attend Toffs every week is an amazing bonus when it comes to interviews."

"One of the biggest misconceptions is that volunteering requires lots of time, but many of our projects need just a few hours or projects like Kids Camp need 5 days in one block during the holidays and nothing else all year!"

Those interested in volunteering should contact studentaction@yusu.org.
