Forget Vogue, fashion blogs are where it's at. They'll give you news from the world of fashion, introduce you to new designers, show you how everyday people are wearing the latest trends (or creating trends of their own), all at the click of a button. Many now also hold competitions, giving you the chance to win designer items. So read on for my pick of the top 5 fashion blogs out there.

5) I want you to know

For a fun and quirky English blog, head to I want you to know. Kristabel is a fashion knitwear graduate. She features posts on London markets, her and her friends’ outfits, her favourite shops, and fashion shows. The photos are accompanied by writing, perfect if you want to know what’s going on behind the photo and where to buy the clothes! I’m also a big fan of the illustrations in the borders and header.

4) Sea of Shoes

Jane Aldridge’s blog started out as a photo album for her large collection of fabulous shoes, and posts were written not just by her but by her mum too. Four years on and Sea of Shoes is now written solely by Jane and has evolved to include posts on her outfits, travels, and events she has attended (the posts on her appearance at the Crillon ball in Paris, in a custom made Chanel dress, are some of my favourite). She also features cool jewelry, make-up and, on some occasions, Japanese toys. It would be easy for this blog to be pretentious, but it really isn’t.

3)Fashionising

Not strictly a blog, but the Fashionising website does have a blogs section. The site has a number of contributors and blog sections and so appeals to a wider audience. Along with the Sartorialist, this is the only blog to feature a significant number of posts targeting men and women. This site is for those who want to know what’s new in the world of fashion, rather than seeing an individual’s take on fashion trends, as most posts are illustrated with photos from the catwalks or photo shoots. This gives Fashionising a more serious feel than the other blogs.

2) The Sartorialist

Scott Schuman, aka the Sartorialist, has been taking photos for his blog for over three years. Well qualified for this field, his work has been featured in GQ, Vogue Paris and can also be seen at the V&A. His blog features photos of stylish every day people he has come across on his travels, showing the likes of you and me how to incorporate trends into our wardrobes and giving new style ideas. This blog is for those who prefer photos to writing, most entries are only accompanied by a title.

1)Garance Doré

For those of you who enjoy the style of the Sartorialist but enjoy a few posts to read, head to his fiancée’s blog. Garance Doré, a French illustrator, started her blog in 2006. She features photos of people in outfits or styles she admires, but also has posts focusing on jewelry, lifestyles and writes articles such as ‘The best worst beauty advice’ accompanied by her own illustrations. You can read her blog in either French or English, perfect for the fashion conscious linguists out there.
