(See what we did there? Like the love child of ‘Got milk’ and ‘You’ve been tangoed’)
Laura Reynolds looks at the hype surrounding the collaboration.
Just a week to go until the man in red arrives...
Earlier this week I was full of the joys of spring, wandering along in the sunshine, wondering if I’m getting the beginnings of a tan and musing on all the joyous kinds of summer clothes I could purchase with the student loan money that had just landed. And then the heavens opened. Oh dear.
This clearly meant that I had to rethink my column ideas and I have, somewhat unsurprisingly, decided to have a look at wet weather options:
Umbrellas
Now as a girl who usually just picks up her umbrellas at Poundland (seriously it makes them practically disposable when it’s raining and you’re heading for Toffs) it came to me as a bit of a surprise the sheer variety of umbrellas that are available on the internet. simplyumbrellas.co.uk are offering the classic birdcage umbrella in silver and white for just £10. If you fancy something a with a little more personality try the pinstripe pagoda on offer at brollies galore for just £19.
Macs
Now macs are in this season, although I’m pretty sure that they’re ‘in’ every season and the fashion people just lie to us. ASOS has some very pleasing macs at the moment including a blue two in one mac with the extremely useful (!) feature of detachable sleeves.
On sale at Topshop at the minute is this frilly collar and cuff mac in charcoal, down from £75 to just £35.
Raincoats
If you’re looking for a more portable and practical solution then why not turn to campers; after all if anyone knows about the inclement British weather it’s them. You’d have to be pretty confident to wear the Peter Storm Women’s Waterproof
Psychedelic Jack in a Pack which is £29 from Millets but I for one am a bit of a fan and as the name suggests it packs away into a handy little bag.
So now at least if the weather does turn up and ruin summer again at least we’ll be stylish and prepared. Hopefully though by next week the sun will be out properly and we can take a look at all the lovely clothes we can shiver and get rained on in this summer.
