We all want to look our best for the summer, whether you’ve been hitting the gym extra hard recently or fake baking yourself to a bronzed hue, its nearly time to show it all off in a bikini – so here’s how you should do it.
Everyone has different parts of their body they like to hide and those they like to flaunt, fortunately there is a fashionable way to flatter every body shape this summer.
First we have the Bikini, its been around forever (well, since the sixties) and its a defiantly a beach favourite, but for those with large breasts it can sometimes be a problem: not anymore!
Here’s The Look’s guide to wearing bikinis if you have big boobs:
- Always choose an underwired version; this will prevent any drooping or sagging and will lift your boobs up, making them look perky.
- Little triangles of fabric will not hold you in. To prevent ‘popping out’ whilst drinking your pina colada choose balconette style bikinis with shoulder straps.
For those with small breasts its often as difficult to find a bikini that emphasises what you’ve got, you’re best plan of action is:
Asos £10
- Go for big block prints or colour on the cup of the bikini, this will draw attention and make boobs appear bigger.
- You’re lucky enough to be able to wear tiny triangles as a top so make the most of it! You can be as adventurous as you’d like. Try wearing a strapless bikini so attention isn’t claimed by snazzy straps.
- Finally, if you still feel you could use and extra lift, try a bikini with gel implants, they look really natural and won’t make you float in the pool!
This summer’s swimwear is all about the one piece, so if you feel ready to give your bikini a break, but still want to show off your tummy then here is the way to do it:
- One pieces with a gap down the front are really fashionable and sexy. Try a brightly coloured one or a plain black with some sparkles to draw attention to your tanned tum.
Mango £25
- Alternatively you can invest in a one piece which only has a small piece of material down the front, these are great for showing of your waist, but be warned, they will leave you looking like you’re wearing a waist coat when you get a tan!
If you’re not a big fan of your tummy, but have been buffing and toning your legs then a high legged one piece is for you.
- A plain swimming costume can look a bit dated, even if your legs look amazing, so jazz yours up with plunging neck lines, or this seasons animal print.
- Experiment in the changing room with different styles, sometimes a lot of pattern at the bottom can draw attention away from the legs so opt for some intriguing straps or detail at the neck line to make sure your legs get all the attention they need.
Finally we come to the bane of many girls’ lives: their bottom. However, you needn’t feel self conscious in a cossie anymore, there are plenty of styles around that help cover bigger bottoms.
Debenhams: £15
- A pair of shorts or a skirt over a cossie is always an option, however, its not that comfortable when they get wet. Many two pieces come with a boxer or short type brief which will offer more coverage than your regular bikini triangle.
- For around the pool you can’t go wrong with a sarong, try wrapping a colourful one around your hips and no-one will notice you’re trying to cover up.
So, there we have it. A brief rundown of how to wear this season’s cossies: now all you need is a beach and a hot man carrying cocktails....
