(See what we did there? Like the love child of ‘Got milk’ and ‘You’ve been tangoed’)
Laura Reynolds looks at the hype surrounding the collaboration.
Just a week to go until the man in red arrives...
Ok so let’s not get too carried away, it is still April after all ergo chilly wind and rain could well be on the cards. The key to this time of year is learning how to layer.
Invest in a range of light jackets and cardigans for day and night to ward of any unexpected chills. This is when your winter essentials make a reappearance. Black cardigans should be a wardrobe staple as they can look smart yet casual and effectively timeless. Topshop have an assortment of cardigans long and short in a range of colours. Check out this knitted longline cardigan in black that can be thrown on with a t-shirt/ short combo and look effortlessly chic while keeping you warm .
Alternatively, opt for a short cardigan in a bold colour or print. Head to Topshop again for a fabulous floral knitted cardigan which captures the essence of summertime!
If cardigans remind you too much of the winter then go for a ‘boyfriend jacket’ which are very à la mode right now. This white bold button jacket from New Look ticks all the boxes; it's light and stylish with ruched crop sleeves and perfect for those mild summer nights.
Also, why not rummage through your winter wardrobe and pick out any bright, potentially ‘summery’ scarves you could layer on top of a jacket for extra warmth. Remember just because the sun has finally come out to play doesn’t mean we can discard all our winter gear as the weather (especially in Britain!) can be very changeable at this time of year.
Don’t panic, I’m not about to suggest that you go from one extreme to another and wear your birthday suit this summer! I mean that nude is the shade to be wearing this season. Nude was a key player in the Spring/Summer 2009 collection of Stella McCartney, Prada and Dolce & Gabanna. Barely there shades such as creams, golds, and beiges have filtered down from the catwalk to our favourite high street shops and will look amazing on everyone.
Head to Miss Selfridge for this long nude top with black neck detail for only £20! Black detailing and jewellery really works well with flesh tones as it adds impact and makes a bold statement.
If you’re willing to bare all then choose a ‘naked’ dress like this shift dress from Oasis. Accessorize this dress with a chunky gold necklace or earrings, luscious red lips and preferably a bronzed body. Yes I’m afraid nude shades are even more divine with a tan, so some sun exposure wouldn’t go amiss.
Alternatively for the nude-shy, why not purchase a pair of nude patent heels such as this strappy pair from Miss Selfridge with laces. Nude coloured shoes should be every girl’s new best friend as they will go with absolutely any outfit and also they possess the power to lengthen legs! With that in mind, being ‘in the nude’ is most definitely the way forward this term.
Weather-wise the summer term is off to a great start (excluding today's downpour!), so enjoy the months ahead and make sure your wardrobe is hot hot hot!
