(See what we did there? Like the love child of ‘Got milk’ and ‘You’ve been tangoed’)
Laura Reynolds looks at the hype surrounding the collaboration.
Just a week to go until the man in red arrives...
Although many will feel that Brad Pitt has had 'the look' in many of his films his most defining look can be found in Ocean's Twelve. Through two hours of thievery, plotting and camaraderie across Europe and the US, Brad Pitt manages to outshine an entire ensemble of A-list actors with his consistently brilliant outfits and general ability to wear clothes the way they deserve to be worn.
Any outfit from the film will show Mr. Pitt at his best but the definitive look has to be at the train station. When the other characters are dressed to look inconspicuous as they travel through Europe, Brad Pitt as Rusty Ryan steals the show with a catwalk mac and tinted glasses before pronouncing "It's not in my nature to be mysterious; but I can't talk about it, and I can't talk about why" and leaving. But the whole film plays as an ode to Brad Pitt's ability to wear the correct outfit in the right way, from the romance scenes between Isabel and Rusty where he is seen in numerous well-made shirts to the more in-your-face brilliance of his outfits for the scenes with Danny Ocean where Rusty's well-groomed, organized look plays off George Clooney's laid back day-old suit.
However the most important part of Rusty's look is the way it engages with his surroundings as if the buildings were almost chosen to complement his outfit, the same look would clash drastically with a backdrop of Hull or the Tsingtao region of China but through Rome and Amsterdam with the cleverly chosen architectural setting the look succeeds in making the outstanding become the extraordinary and herein lies one of the secrets to a great look, knowing how to work within the immediate environment.
