Funded by the University of York Careers Service, pros[e] provides in-depth and inside information on a wide range of career sectors. The launch of the magazine displays a great achievement for a small group of dedicated English students from the University of York, who have been working since November to create a vibrant, informative and original resource. The pros[e] team know firsthand how difficult it can be for English students to pinpoint their skills, and choose a post-university path from the huge range of options open to them. The magazine also speaks to arts students of other disciplines, who have a similar set of transferable skills.
pros[e] aims to bridge the gap between university and post university life, by providing a broad range of in-depth information on subjects such as further study, work experience, gap years, part-time jobs, and how to match an English student's skills to a perfect job. There are personal accounts of work experience placements, first jobs, gap years and job applications.
The website also includes features such as 'CV Speak', which aims to help students make the most of even the dullest duties in a CV, while the 'Deadline Diary' provides a guideline to help students keep track of graduate recruitment, postgraduate courses and internship deadlines, to name a few.
pros[e] is looking to establish itself as a major resource for students all over the country. Through its large network of contacts, English students nationwide are writing, interviewing and blogging for pros[e], to develop a resource which can only go from strength to strength into the next academic year and beyond.
Don’t miss the pros[e] launch party, which will be held at Kennedy’s Bar & Restaurant on Thursday 11th June from 8pm. Tickets include a free drink on the door, and can be bought for just £3 from 12-2pm on Monday 8th to Wednesday 10th June, in CETLE (Vanbrugh C block).
