50 years after the publication of 'James and the Giant Peach', the works of Roald Dahl continue to celebrate success.
Alcuin are pulling out all the stops for their Summer Ball this year, which takes place on Tuesday. Following a three course meal at the Hilton Hotel, the highlight of the night will surely be the Alcuin Awards, with honours ranging from Fresher of the Year to Socialite of the Year. The ceremony will be in the style of the Oscars, complete with humorous videos of all the nominees.
The ticket also includes a drinks reception, free entry and queue jump to Tru, half a bottle of wine and an additional free drink, and drinks deals at Henry J Beans.
Tickets cost £29.50 and are available from the college website.
As the largest college on campus, Halifax's Summer Ball looks set to be an exciting night. Happening on Thursday of Week 9, Halifax are heading to the Slug and Lettuce on the river for a Buck’s Fizz reception, followed by a three course meal and drinks. The night will also feature a raffle and the auctioning off of various college committee members, if anyone will have them!
To round off a rather classy evening, the college has secured Gallery's VIP lounge for the night. The ticket also provides members with half a bottle of wine in the Slug and Lettuce, and two free drinks in Gallery.
Tickets cost £30 and are on sale on the YUSU website and in JJs Bar on Sunday evening.
Langwith’s Summer Ball takes place tomorrow, and is focused around two student favourites – pizza and vodka! The night starts at Italian restaurant Ask, where attendees will be treated to a three course meal along with a champagne and canapé reception.
The night then continues with an after-party in Revolution, with a free shot on arrival and a number of drinks deals, including two-for-one cocktails!
Tickets cost £30, though students who only wanted to attend the after-party are able to do so for the bargain price of £2.50.
