Cross-dressing = Manly?

Cross Dressing
Cross Dressing
Wednesday, 4th March 2009
The girl to boy ratio of York flips positively to the female side by night as large groups of sporty males dress up in skirts and heels. Cross-dressing has become a standard theme for a student night out, along with superheroes and golfers. Being generally attracted to alpha males makes the sight of men with wearing makeup and skimpy dresses distinctly unappealing.

So why do boys continue to don bras in clubs? Women with nice bodies are proud to wear clothes that show off their most attractive assets. Short skirts for long legged girls, low tops for curvy girls, we all know how to strut it.

I suppose men have the same desire. Sports teams spend hours in the gym sculpting their guns and working on their abs - but their typical club clothes do little justice to their bodies. Perhaps this pent-up frustration is why the rowing team dazzle us by ripping off their shirts in Ziggy’s every Wednesday. Cross dressing thus provides an outlet for abs seeking appreciation.

Assuming sportsmen’s ultimate goal on a night out is to take home one “lucky” lady, they must find that this disguise brings results. Perhaps many girls find that kissing a man in drag is as desirably outrageous as kissing another girl.

In my case, I was initially attracted by the bulging biceps beautifully displayed by a guy in a sleeveless red dress. As things got intimate, however, I realised that kissing a cross-dresser is extremely disturbing. His padded bra squashed awkwardly against mine, and his lack of waistband left me grabbing his derriere in a vulgarly masculine way. I made a quick escape to the toilets only to discover that I had lipstick smeared all over my face.

Wanting to show the world how blessed the rowing team is - physically I mean - is one thing. Indeed, this should be encouraged. Wearing women’s clothes allows them to show off their bodies without getting topless and making the walls of Ziggy’s drip with sweat.

However, the padded bras, mascara and lipstick are a step too far. It looks hideous, makes kissing uncomfortable and sends a wave of shock to the system every time you see their face. But then again, sportsmen never do things in half measure, they go the full distance.

I have been put off cross-dressing for life. I swear never to go to a slag and drag event and to stay well away from wig toting males. However, they do deserve some respect. Firstly because dressing like a girl is painful, especially when one lacks the necessary curves. But mostly because it takes guts to approach a girl in such a ridiculous costume.

Women rarely dress as men because it is not attractive and the same goes both ways. Admittedly there’s a safety in numbers for the sports teams, at least until the next morning and the walk of shame...or is that fame?

Isn't this article sort of offensive?

'kissing a cross-dresser is extremely disturbing'
'it looks hideous'
'a ridiculous costume'

I feel that I should also point out to 'Mademoiselle' that people who cross-dress aren't all doing so to assert their masculine heterosexuality in order to pull women like you.

I think it's quite obvious that the article is referring to guys who dress up as women for socials- as made obvious by references to Ziggy's and sports teams!

I ♥ cross dressing.

So much in fact, I'm rarely dressed as a man nowadays.

And I won't be at Jungle D either.
